5 PRACTICAL TIPS TO CREATE SPACE BY LETTING GO OF WHAT NO LONGER SERVES YOU
The clutter and chaos we accumulate throughout our lives can greatly affect our mood, productivity and overall well-being. Most of us know deep down that it's time to let go of what no longer serves us, but it can be hard to know where to start. In this blog post, I will share 5 practical tips for letting go.
1. Start Within
It can feel counterintuitive, when the point is to declutter your possessions, but before you turn outward, start by noticing what is happening within. Take a couple breaths and notice what sensations are present in your body. Track the thoughts in your mind. Throughout the process, you will find a lot of information here!
2. Define Your Vision
The second tip is to define your vision. Living in alignment with your values is key to letting go of what no longer serves you. Start by asking yourself what matters most to you in life, what inspires you and what makes you happy. Once you have clarity on your values, it will be easier to identify what possessions, habits or relationships are not in alignment and can be let go of.
3. The Holistic Approach
The third tip comes from the holistic psychologist, Dr. Nicole LePera, who advocates for a holistic approach to letting go. She suggests addressing the underlying emotional and psychological reasons that make it hard to let go in the first place. This holistic approach can be achieved through practices like meditation, breathwork or journaling. By practicing self-awareness and mindfulness, you can better understand your patterns and behaviors, and shift them towards letting go.
4. Follow your aliveness
The fourth tip is to tune in to what brings you joy and aliveness. When you hold an object in your hand, does it make you feel joyful and alive? Or do you feel heavy or anxious or annoyed? Tune in to you body for answers, and start with one room or even a corner in your home that only contains object that inspire aliveness.
5. Gratitude
The final tip is to practice gratitude. Express gratitude for what you have, rather than focusing on what you want to let go of. By shifting your mindset towards gratitude, you can generate positive energy that will accompany you throughout the decluttering process. You can start by creating a gratitude journal, where you will write down three things you are grateful for each day.
Letting go of what no longer serves you is a process that can be joyful, life-giving and create more space for the things you love! It also requires patience, self-awareness and a willingness to change. By starting within, defining your vision, using a holistic approach, following your aliveness, and practicing gratitude, you can create a life that is more joyful and aligned!
